Featured Project

Grand Canyon

FLI-MAP was selected by the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center to survey sedimentation areas on the base of the Grand Canyon. FLI-MAP was chosen due to its high levels of accuracy and density of data set. This enabled differentiation of ground and vegetation features within the data.

Applications:

Powerline

powerlines

When access, accuracy, and time are issues, FLI-MAP provides transmission powerline managers and engineers with practical solutions for gathering survey information for just about any type of project. The helicopter platform allows you to get the detailed information you need, whether it includes three-dimensional (3D) clearances of conductors or identifying insulator types, without walking the rights-of-way. JCLS formats the data to meet the clients' needs. It can be easily imported into most GIS or engineering application software including PLS-CADD, TLCADD, or POLECAD.

Rail

rail

The collection of topographic or asset information for engineering or database population along rail corridors and yards has always required putting people on the tracks. This can cause headaches for operations and present safety concerns. FLI-MAP safely gets this information with no impact on traffic because the information is collected from the air and not on the ground. FLI-MAP collects the detail necessary to accurately locate features along the rail corridor without interfering with valuable track time.

Highway

Gaining access to acquire topographic data adds time and expense to highway design projects. This is especially true when right of entry cannot be obtained or the terrain is too rugged for conventional methods or is too vegetated for aerial photogrammetry. By using an airborne scanning laser, FLI-MAP is able to get that terrain information without setting foot on the inaccessible or unsafe corridor.

FLI-MAP data has also been used for mapping pipeline routes, levees, barrier islands, breakwaters, shorelines and other areas that require highly dense and accurate 3-dimensional data sets. The data is often used to build a digital terrain model (DTM) or digital elevation model (DEM) of the corridor.

Deliverables

Deliverables are tailored to each client's needs and can be in a variety of electronic or hard copy formats. Some examples are as follows:

Electronic Format Hard Copy Format Imagery
PLS-CADD Contour Mapping Video (MPG)
TL-CADD Plan & Profile Sheets Still (ECW, TIF, BMP)
POLE CAD
