FLI-MAP Fugro
A cost-effective alternative to traditional surveying and mapping methods

Levees

Accurate 3-D geometry of water embankments and their surrounding environments is essential information for checking the height and safety margins of water defenses. FLI-MAP has consistently outperformed any other survey method by generating more data accurately, rapidly, and at lower cost.

Applications of FLI-MAP Data

  • Rapid checking of levee safety heights and cross-sections
  • Monitoring of vegetation and obstructions
  • Inventory and asset mapping
  • Provide the building blocks for a GIS Database

FLI-MAP's low operating altitude and data collection speed ensures a very high laser point density, providing the highest level of detail and accuracy available today from an airborne LiDAR system. Combined with high quality imagery, FLI-MAP LiDAR data provides a complete picture of each survey site

GIS Database

Fugro has developed a specific Arc View application to work with FLI-MAP data to provide all the tools necessary for storing, viewing, and assessing all relevant levee data. This application is in
use by several Waterboards in the Netherlands.

Sub-Surface Analysis

FLI-MAP has worked on levee projects together with fellow Fugro company, Fugro Airborne Services Corp (FAS) of Canada. FAS specialize in airborne geophysics and use its state-of-the-art helicopter electromagnetic (HEM) systems to assess the sub-surface geology in the top 150 meters of the earth. Combined with the FLI-MAP data, this provides a total solution for levee assessment.

Industry Experience

  • Since 1995 FLI-MAP has mapped over 9000 miles of levee infrastructure worldwide.
  • Internationally, FLI-MAP has been used in more than 20 countries on 6 continents.
