Featured Project

Grand Canyon

FLI-MAP was selected by the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center to survey sedimentation areas on the base of the Grand Canyon. FLI-MAP was chosen due to its high levels of accuracy and density of data set. This enabled differentiation of ground and vegetation features within the data.

JCLS & Fugro Introduce FLI-MAP 400 VS (Variable Speed)

John Chance Land Surveys and Fugro have introduced an enhanced capability laser scanner to the latest FLI-MAP system.

The FLI-MAP 400 VS (Variable Speed) scanner can be operated at effective pulse rates of 150,000 or 250,000 pulses per second. Effective pulse rate refers to useable pulses, and not the pulse rate of the laser source, which is higher to offset for pulses that are not useable due to scanner mechanics. The system has potential for further enhancement to provide even higher effective pulse rates in the future.

Higher pulse rate equates to a higher point density on the ground, allowing mapping at even finer detail, while maintaining FLI-MAP's industry leading accuracy specifications.

The FLI-MAP 400 VS scanner also incorporates Multi Pulse In Air (MPIA) capability to allow for the possibility of higher data collection altitudes at the higher pulse rates.

Integration with the on-board line scan camera, used to provide near real-time colorization of the laser data, results in data sets that are a high-accuracy, high-resolution 3D color image.

Fugro SESL Now Operational With FLI-MAP 400

Fugro SESL in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has taken delivery of a FLI-MAP 400 system and will work together with JCLS on provision of FLI-MAP services in North America.

Fugro Acquires EarthData International and Horizons

On April 10, Fugro announced the acquisition of EarthData International and Horizons.

Fugro now has the capability to execute wider area LiDAR projects that were not suited to FLI-MAP and to provide photogrammetric solutions where LiDAR is not suitable.

FLI-MAP is a mobile system that can be mounted to a variety of helicopter types. A helicopter can be provided by JCLS or by the client if a suitable type is available.

FLI-MAP® was developed to provide the geographic information that engineers and managers need and often times have a hard time getting. FLI-MAP has been providing this service to the transmission powerline and transportation industries in both the public and private sectors since 1995. In that time, FLI-MAP has become one of the most trusted airborne survey systems offering imagery and LiDAR services today.

In the Americas, FLI-MAP is operated by John Chance Land Surveys, Inc. and Fugro SESL.

In Europe, Asia and Australia, FLI-MAP is operated by Fugro-Inpark B.V.
