FLIP7® is the post-processing software for FLI-MAP.
FLIP7 is a powerful software package that greatly increases the usefulness of the FLI-MAP data. A full-featured, multi-media survey package, FLIP7 facilitates the job of processing, managing, and communicating FLI-MAP survey data.
FLIP7 data processing can be done by JCLS staff, consultants in a variety of industries familiar with FLIP7, or can be made available to the client for self-processing.
FLIP7 provides full CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) capabilities "on top of" the LiDAR data, providing additional capabilities to the operator in extracting valuable information from the FLI-MAP LiDAR data and imagery.
Since FLIP7 is a true Microsoft Windows application, the user interface is based on standard Windows programming conventions. The look and feel of the program is very natural to experienced and novice Windows users.
Major Features of FLIP7 Visualization of the LiDAR Data
Visualization of the LiDAR Data
LiDAR data may be displayed colored by elevation or by intensity. As data is 3-dimensional it may also be viewed in plan and profile, both along and across the flightpath.
Reduction of the LiDAR data
FLIP7 uses filters to reduce the original data set to a more manageable collection of points. Some of the filters that FLIP7 incorporates are a ground filter, a wires filter, a poles filter, and a rails filter. These filters classify the LiDAR data into subsets of the original data and allow viewing and exporting of each subset.
Computer Aided Drafting
FLIP7 allows the user to "extract" 3D positional information from any object that can be visualized in the data. The user performs this extraction by drawing
"on top of" the LiDAR background. FLIP7 supports simple points and multisegmented polylines and can handle an unlimited number of drawing objects and layers. All extracted features have all the intelligence from the LiDAR background such as position, elevation, ground elevation, and time.
Image Fusion
The pixels of captured images are corrected for position, heading and height, and 'fused' with the laser data to present it as a geo-referenced, orthorectified image. This ortho-rectification can be applied to both single images and to generate seamless mosaics.
Import and Export
Drawing objects can be imported into or exported from FLIP7 by using the industry standard AutoCad DXF file format or a flexible field ASCII text file format. Digital image mosaics can be exported to third party packages as TIF, BMP, JPEG, or ECW files.

FLIP7® Versions
FLIP7 is available in 3 different versions:
FLIP7 Suite (full version including DV Controller) - A complete suite of processing tools for FLI-MAP data.
FLIP7 Viewer - A limited capability version of FLIP7, allowing viewing and handling of laser and image data, as well as the ability to make measurements.
DV Controller - Allows viewing of FLI-MAP video data in some 3rd party software applications (e.g.. PLS-CADD).
